COL Receives Sprout Fund Grant for Job Training Partnership

Center of Life partners with New Century Careers to develop effective marketing and recruiting for a precision machine skills training program.

We are excited to announce that COL and NCC’s project proposal was chosen as one of ten grantees by the Sprout Fund as part of the My Brother's Keeper Initiative. Through the initiative, $100,000 in grant funding will be distributed to ten local organizations that will work together to enhance 21st century learning opportunities for local youth, particularly young men of color ages 16-24. Through its M2K Quick-Train program, New Century Careers trains job seekers, 18 years and older, for entry-level positions in precision machining. Participants can embark on lucrative manufacturing careers with ample opportunity for advancement and no student debt. This program allows trainees to enter the manufacturing workforce within as few as three months, and more than 85% of program completers have been placed at jobs with local manufacturers. Center of Life and New Century Careers staff will collaborate on developing strategies for promoting M2K and supporting interested residents in the enrollment process as well as providing resources during the course of the training.
